Panel saws can have one main saw blade or scoring along with a main saw blade. Scoring is used to create a groove and especially in double-side laminate before the main saw rips the piece in two, to avoid chipping. The scoring saw rotates in opposite direction, as the main saw to avoid chipping.

The edge band act as a protective layer from moisture and possible warping due to aerial humidity, adding to the strength and durability of the piece. The purpose is to match the plywood sides with the finished cabinet or furniture for a seamless finish.

A Multi Boring machine is an effective machine for drilling holes.
